Crit Evening 25 February 2013

This Monday Fritha hosted our meeting at her place in Brockley. Patrick introduced us to his painting practice - acrylic and oil based with organic and geometric elements, layered yet reduced and with graphic qualities. He is interested in the language of abstraction, colour and form. We discussed the link to artists like Thomas Nozkowski or Ed Ruscha and the process of making work. It would be good to visit his studio in Peckham. AnnaMaria outlined her practice being in the context of institutions, working on on-site temporary installations and altering objects and content from education, corporate and public settings. She showed new work which uses text and we discussed the way it is perceived, performative notions, (non) pheripheral objects and modes of decision-making.
