Join AltMFA members this Saturday afternoon, on the Thames beach in Rotherhithe..for our Art Licks weekend event!
Responding to the Art Licks Weekend theme of Finding Solutions, AltMFA will gather and work together on the beach of the River Thames to explore how the group can create and interact with each other in this unpredictable natural environment.
We will spend several hours finding ways to work through ideas of problems + solutions in a collaborative and improvised environment- where group members, visitors and other artists can work together.
Expect collaborative actions, site-specific works, a tea ceremony, live performances, and opportunities to explore whatever problems/solutions you may be ruminating on.
Events happening 2-4ish..access to the beach is down steps next to entrance of The Mayflower pub, 5 mins walk from Rotherhithe station...

BAD SHIT
What happens when you dream of being pregnant only to wake up and find yourself giving birth to a bad shit? What happens when everyone around you is pregnant and they only talk about nappies, pushchairs and motherhood? A show about wanting to be who you are, without a big belly.
Naima Karlsson
Naima will be doing her own version of a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, in which time is taken to focus on an interactive process in silence.
To pay attention to the impermanence and balance of nature and the elements, without the rationalising of language.. There will also be a chance to ruminate on words and written meanings with some printed texts from her forthcoming book.
Debora Mo
Debora Mo's solution is to make a 'cocoon' shelter for herself in homage to that part of the river that provided her ancestors with a home and a living, and as a comment on people being priced out of their ancestral neighbourhood...
Nathania Hartley - On The Rocks + Marion Tu - Leaving No Stone Unturned
ON THE ROCKS
The ones that stuck out.
walking... scouring and scoring... the beach... fragments of thoughts... ideas... pointers... lives...
unite
gathering together and dispersing, releasing, exposing notebooks through the years... inscribing the water... into the landscape... transience on permanence... and back again.
LEAVING NO STONE UNTURNED
Marion will be walking simultaneously in the streets of Atlanta, GA, USA. Marion is a long-distance member of AltMFA. During the walk, she will be looking for ways to fill the gaps of her absence. She will share photos, words and telepathic thoughts with the audience in an attempt at conjuring the curse of never being there.
Irene Pulga
OSTRICH
tell me your problem, admit to me when you stick your head under the sand, and I’ll tell you a solution.
Eva Lis
FAIR TRADE
Eva will explore the idea of sugar dissolving in water, changing its physical form like the status that it was given. A small cube of energy that so beautifully describes rising and falling of social, political, biological and physical configurations.
Johanna Bolton

SOUND TO STORY - CREATE YOUR OWN MYTH
You will be taken on a guided, blindfolded walk around the beach and encouraged to listen deeply to the sounds around you. Let your imagination travel with you into new realms of fantasy and myth inspired by the sounds you hear. At the end of the walk, make a record of your trip - draw a picture, write free verse, create a story…the wilder, the better…
