AltMFA is 2 years old this month! We haven't posted much over the summer
so here's an update on what we've been up to. The past couple of months
we've been having a lot of crits, which has been great. We've discussed
old work, new work, works in progress and works by other artists. We've
also had reading weeks were we have each brought a text, and we had a
guest speaker Clive Niall who discussed his research on the artist as
teacher. Gwen, Lily, James, George, Neela, Fritha, Louise, Charlie and Alex have all talked to the group abput their work and there has been some exciting exchanges of ideas and feedback. We've had outdoor meetings, indoor meetings, meetings in art schools and meetings in our houses... next week we're
meeting on a boat to Greenwich. Now that 'crit season' is over we'll be organising
some more guest speakers and studio visits, as well as continuing crits
when people need them. Excitingly, we have been invited to speak
at the ICA on 7th December alongside Eastside Projects' 'ESP'. To be continued...
